The Village of Warburg, with a population of approximately 766, is located on Highway 39 approximately 1 hour from Edmonton.
Position Summary
The Village is looking for a highly motivated and well-organized individual to fill this position in a team environment. The Recreation Coordinator, reporting directly to the Municipal Administrator, will plan and coordinate recreation programs and provide consultative services to community organizations offering recreation programs. The part time position is based on 13.0 hours per week.
Duties & Responsibilities
1) Program Development
- Plan, promote, implement and evaluate recreation programs and special events to residents of all ages.
- Recruit and supervise community volunteers.
- Prepare, recommend and monitor sections of the recreation budget.
- Regular review and evaluation of programs to ensure high quality provision of services.
- Develop program policies that will ensure safe, high quality programming.
- Coordination of volunteer recognition initiatives.
- Produce promotional materials and develop promotional strategies.
- Maintain guidelines for Joint Use Agreement.
2) Community Development
- Provide consultative services to community associations, agricultural societies and to other leisure related groups as required.
- Attendance and guidance at the Warburg and District Regional Recreation Board meetings and other community meetings as required.
- Encourage and assist in the development and promotion of community tourism initiatives that attract interest in the region.
3) Department Support
- Make recommendations and provide information on recreation program and community development matters to the Municipal Administrator to be taken to Council.
- Preparation of submissions to committee meetings. Presentations as required to committee and Council meetings.
- Preparation of recommendations to Council.
- Financials, as required, for non-profit groups.
